This week the first half of the south sidewalk (Jefferson, Leavenworth the midblock) was demo'd and poured. It looks good.

Thanks to all the businesses along that stretch for working with the contractor as this work was performed. They are completing the curb ramp now on the southwest corner at Jefferson/Leavenworth.

Next week: finish that south-side block; rain likely though

Work moves to the second half of this south-side block next week. Once the demo of the curb and gutter is complete (hopefully tomorrow), crews will begin to form and pour that curb and gutter early next week.

Demolition of the sidewalk (Blue Mermaid to NPS entrance) begins Monday. The plan is to pour that sidewalk in sections by the end of the week. And then once that is completed, demo and pour the last section (NPS entrance to Hyde) starting Monday, March 25th.

NOTE: There is a good chance that is will rain on Tuesday/Wednesday. This will push work back a few days, depending on the weather.

Once this work is complete, work will flip to the north side of the block, most likely in about three weeks.

Leavenworth/Jefferson intersection, traffic changes on Leavenworth

The Water Department is performing water line work and then the contractor will commence with the demolition and reconstruction at Jefferson and Leavenworth. Because of intersection work, traffic needs to be closed for vehicles travelling north on Leavenworth, between Beach and Jefferson. Traffic can still access the businesses on Jefferson from Jones Street or any street. Tour buses and their staging spaces have been temporarily relocated onto Beach. There will be a flagger at Beach and Leavenworth at all times to assist as vehicles approach. Local traffic, such as deliveries, will still be able to access that segment of Leavenworth.

The resurfacing of the intersection there at Jefferson and Leavenworth will take about 21 days. It began this week and you will soon see crews removing the current roadway and pouring the new one in sections. The roadway will be opened to traffic as soon as the work can be completed.
